Top Five Friday

Top App To Engage With The Bible: If you have trouble engaging with the Scriptures well, the Bible Project App is an incredibly useful tool for your 2023 journey.

New Year’s Sunday Brunch: We will gather at 10:30 am for a catered Brunch on Sunday, January 1st. Generations is providing pancakes, bacon, and eggs. Feel free to bring a breakfast side to share! You can expect light music, devotional talks on communion, and an opportunity to connect with others through food and conversation. No Livestream this week. If you want to get a jumpstart on the conversation, begin here.

Men’s & Women’s Groups: Looking to connect with others to deepen relationships and discuss Bible/faith in 2023? There are two scheduled opportunities midweek to check in, reflect, and share life with others.

Giving: Thank you for your generosity in 2022! Give over Get is practiced well throughout our church family. Our regular generosity initiatives are received glowingly within our church and community.

Over the course of the year, internal generosity of tithes and offerings increased from $6,000/mo to almost $10,000/mo. Meaning we took another step towards sustainability! Praise God! We hope to see this grow from $10,000/mo to $14,000/mo in 2023. If we reach this goal, Generations Church’s local tithes and offerings will cover 75% of our ministry!

Questions are sure to arise whenever a church talks about money, so please do not hesitate to reach out. We will be sending out 2022 giving statements in January as well as sharing the 2023 budget. If you would still like to make a tax-deductible donation for 2022 there is still time.

Coming up 2023: As we roll into another year, it’s essential for us to communicate where we are headed. If 2020 and 2021 taught us anything, it’s that we should hold these plans loosely, but there are some significant events and initiatives that we desire to highlight.

First, “do a few things well” to grow in maturity. We are always tempted to over-program or move on if something doesn’t seem successful at first. Therefore, we will seek to be responsive to the Spirit and the Scriptures expressed in a way consistent with our vision and values. We will continue to promote and refine who we are within our local context. So, you can expect a few well-thought-out events by our various teams, some newer classes to address wounds and questions, and a relentless encouragement for the everyday person to grow in faith, be God’s family and live on mission with a divine purpose.

Second, grow our internal leadership to steward and shepherd Generations Church well. Generations has an External Partnership Team, which holds the Pastoral Team to faithfully follow Jesus and express the vision/values of the Church. Our goal will be to see this “Partnership Team” move internally comprised of GenChurch people. Our goal is to increase shared leadership to expand God’s family.

Lastly, increase our awareness of God’s work around the world. We intend to encourage a week of camping in August at Wi-Ne-Ma on the Oregon coast at Week of Missions. God is at work; may we enjoy the journey.

By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. – Jesus, John 13:35
