About Child Dedication
Child dedication is one of the most meaningful things a family and church do together because of the commitment behind it.
When you dedicate your child, you are making a public promise before God and your church family: we will model a Jesus lifestyle, and we will give our child every opportunity to encounter and follow Jesus. It's less about the child making a decision and more about the parents making one.
The practice is rooted in Scripture. Before Jesus was baptized as an adult, his parents dedicated him to the Lord (Luke 2:22–40). That's the pattern we follow — parents go first.
But dedication isn't a solo act. When your family walks to the front, the entire church stands with you. Our community collectively commits to come alongside you — to pray for your child, to be a village, and to help your family follow Jesus together.
Child dedication is not baptism. It doesn't save your child or secure their faith. That's a decision only they can make. What dedication does is set the table — it creates a home and a church environment where faith can grow naturally, deeply, and intentionally.

Who is child dedication for?
Any parent(s) or guardian(s) who want to commit to raising their child in the ways of Jesus, infants through young children who have never participated in a dedication.
Is this the same as infant baptism?
No. Baptism at Generations is a personal declaration of faith made by the individual. Dedication is a parental commitment made on behalf of the child.

What happens during the ceremony?
Your family comes forward during a Sunday gathering. Our pastor prays over your child and your family, and the congregation affirms its support through a series of spoken confessions.
When can we do it?
Dedications happen periodically throughout the year. Reach out to our team at hello@mygenerations.church to get scheduled.
What comes next after dedication?
Connection. We'll link you with our Kids Ministry team to help you take practical next steps in raising your child in faith — both at home and at church.
