Living with Kingdom Purpose
Reading: Matthew 5:13–16
Devotional:
Jesus says we are “the salt of the earth” and “the light of the world.” That’s not a suggestion—it’s a statement of identity. Salt preserves what’s good; light reveals what’s true. In a decaying, dark world, God’s people are called to flavor life with grace and illuminate it with truth.
Your faith is not meant to hide inside church walls—it’s meant to touch everyday spaces: your workplace, your friendships, your city. Every conversation, every act of kindness, every word of encouragement is a spark of the Kingdom pushing back the darkness.
You may feel small, but salt and light always make a difference. A pinch of salt changes the flavor. A single light changes the room. You were made to shine where God has placed you.
Reflection Question:
Where has God placed you to be salt and light? How can you make His love and truth visible in the places you already live and work?
Action Step:
Identify one area this week where you can intentionally live out your Kingdom calling—share your story, speak truth with grace, or bring hope where despair lingers.
Quote (Lesslie Newbigin):
“The business of the church is to be a sign, instrument, and foretaste of the kingdom—to make the reign of Christ visible in the midst of the world’s rebellion.”
