Finding Refuge In God

Oct 23, 2025

Reading: Psalm 46

Devotional:

The psalmist declares, “God is our refuge and strength, a helper who is always found in times of trouble.” These words aren’t written from comfort, but from chaos. Mountains quake. Nations rage. The world feels like it’s falling apart. And yet—the Lord remains.

To call God your refuge doesn’t mean you escape life’s storms; it means you find peace within them. His presence becomes your shelter. His strength, your steadiness. When you “be still,” you’re not retreating—you’re realigning. You’re remembering that God’s kingdom is unshakable, even when everything else trembles.

When life unravels, your refuge isn’t found in your plan, your resources, or your control—it’s found in the One who simply says, “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Reflection Question:

What are the “earthquakes” shaking your world right now? What would it look like to stop striving and rest in God’s unshakable presence?

Action Step:

Take 10 minutes today to be completely still before God. No requests, no agenda—just awareness of His presence. Let His peace quiet your heart.

Quote (Lesslie Newbigin):

“We do not come to God’s presence to escape the world, but to be sent back into it with new eyes to see His kingdom breaking in.”
