The Promise of His Presence

Reading: Haggai 2:1-9

Devotional: "Be strong, for I am with you." These words echo through Haggai to a discouraged people comparing their modest temple to Solomon's glory. God's response isn't about architectural magnificence—it's about presence. The treasure isn't gold or silver; it's God Himself dwelling among His people. We often measure our spiritual lives by external metrics: attendance, activities, achievements. But God asks a simpler question: Are you making room for Me? The Spirit's presence transforms ordinary spaces into holy ground. Your life, however humble it appears, becomes the intersection of heaven and earth when God inhabits it. Don't despair over what seems insignificant. God promises the latter glory will exceed the former—not through human effort, but through divine presence. God's presence in your life matters infinitely more than any outward appearance of success.

Reflection Question: Where have you been comparing your journey with others instead of treasuring God's presence with you right now?

"God is not looking for extraordinary characters as His instruments, but He is looking for humble instruments through whom He can be honored throughout the ages." — A.W. Tozer
